I think figuring out my code is a work in progress. I would like to think that a majority of my days I live with the code of: eating small balanced meals that make my body function and my mind happy. I am able to operate with integrity when I am focused and reminded about why I am operating under that code. (Being lighter feels better than Baskin Robbins tastes) ... When I am true to myself and focused on what I am doing I am aware of the fact I feel lighter and therefore better. I just need to work on being more consistent when it comes to honoring my code.

Carrie, It is amazinghow much better we feel when we take care of ourselves. I feel good coming back to fundamentals when life gets hectic. Sleep, fresh foods, exercise and in a matter of hours I feel great again. By the way, Thanks for sharing this post on Facebook!

Kirsten I know you are superbusy with kids etc but have you ever tried journaling your meals and how you felt after new things you eat? People often ask, "what should I eat" my best reply is eat what feels good to you. Eating small portions is like having a small closet. You keep only what makes you look and feel fabulous!

I love this one. I am always so surprised when I get sick or run down until I think about it...I haven't taken care of myself for one reason or another. I have, especially, been working on the last 30 minutes of the day. Do I really need to see that episode of Modern Family or should I just crawl into bed with a good book (or husband :). Whatever....this is not the time to do anything but just be where we can feel ourselves relaxing and sinking into our pillows. I find I sleep better that way. (oh, and lay off the wine routine...this really does affect sleep/relaxation).

For me, eating healthy means feeling good both about what I am eating and how I feel after eating. A cup of chocolate kisses sounds great, but I literally feel heavy and out of balance if I eat that. In contrast, roasted veggies with shaved parm makes me warm and balanced and full. So much of healthy eating for me relates to how I feel after I've eaten and how my energy remains stable as a result.

Eating healthy for me has changed through out the years. I used to burn so many calories swimming and playing water polo that eating healthy meant I could have three huge plates a day, snacks in between followed by one of my Dad's famous peanut butter milkshakes! My plates would consist of pastas, good rustic bread, cheese and loads of veggies. Since I am no longer working out nearly 7hours a day I have had to learn a new type of healthy eating and it is just recently that I have become conscious of this.

I feel have always been a "healthy eater" meaning I have always had balanced meals that consisted of a good balance between carbs, protein and fat. But, now healthy eating to me is eating less carbs and more protein and just LESS of everything. For example I don't need a plate of bread, salad, pasta and steak. I just need salad and steak. Salad and Steak give me the energy I need and leave me feeling lighter...

Now only if I could think like this every meal. (I am getting there!)
